Quilters' paradise

I just returned from a five-day quilting retreat in the foothills of Alabama.  Oh my!  I had so much fun last year, I couldn't wait.  The first night one of our sisters had to make a trip to the emergency room.  Muscle spasms in her back. Ouch!

The doctor strolled in and asked the routine questions. She informed him that we were from out of town and would be there for several days. "Why are you here," he asked.  When she told him a quilting retreat, he said with a smirk, "Well, I'll have to hear more about this."

I guess he thought we were a bunch of nerdy old ladies.  We are NOT.  Many of us are retired professionals, some still work. We just happen to share a passion for art and beauty in fabric. Who wouldn't enjoy five days of working on projects, sharing ideas, beautiful scenery, shopping, and more.

More girls
When not sewing we were reading, taking naps or watching movies in the beautiful home theatre. Three times a day we were summoned by a tinkling little bell to come upstairs to the beautiful dining room for fabulous food.  It was like being part of Downton Abby, except we did not have to dress for dinner.  In fact, many of us ate breakfast in our p.j.s.

The chickens that roamed freely had been confined to quarters after a series of "foxes raiding the hen house" episodes.  The came out in the afternoon to strut their stuff.

I returned home to find my usual household chores, dogs to feed, meals to cook.  No tinkling bell in this house. Our little group reconnected with friends we met there last year and made new friends this year. Can't wait for next year!
